D-AV-OE-01 Dell Avamar Operate v2 Exam Practice Resources

Oct 15,2026

Dell Learning states that the previous Avamar Operate exam, D-AV-OE-23, retired on October 8, 2026. Its replacement, D-AV-OE-01, became available on October 9. Anyone preparing for the Dell Avamar Operate v2 Exam should therefore check that their study materials follow the D-AV-OE-01 objectives rather than the older exam's domain structure.

Dell identifies infrastructure administrators, solution architects, storage administrators, and technical support personnel as the target audience. The credential concerns the administration, monitoring, and maintenance of Avamar environments. Practice resources can test your understanding, but the current Dell Learning objectives should define what you study.

What the current exam page confirms

The D-AV-OE-01 page lists English and French as available languages. It also presents recommended training and a separate official practice test. The reviewed page does not state a question count, exam duration, or passing score. Carrying those details over from D-AV-OE-23, or taking them from an unverified listing, would be misleading.

The new blueprint has four domains: Avamar Concepts at 12%, Avamar Infrastructure at 40%, Avamar Operations at 36%, and Avamar Troubleshoot at 12%. Infrastructure and operations together account for 76% of the published weighting. Give them substantial study time without dropping the other two areas.

What the four domains ask you to know

Avamar Concepts covers features, capabilities, architecture, and the ideas needed to understand how Avamar works. This is the foundation for the operational topics that follow.

Avamar Infrastructure, the largest domain, includes health monitoring, service management, maintenance, domains, infrastructure settings, Data Domain integration, and updates or patches through AVI. Study these as connected administrative tasks. If system health changes, which service, setting, or maintenance record would you inspect next?

Avamar Operations covers creating, changing, and deleting backup policy resources. It also includes proxy operations, NDMP backups, client installation and updates, and daily administration. Learn what each task changes and which resources it affects rather than memorizing a list of feature names.

Avamar Troubleshoot covers events, common issues, and the resources used to investigate them. Although it carries a 12% weight, it connects directly to monitoring and daily operations. A troubleshooting scenario may require you to identify the affected area before choosing the next source of evidence.

Build a study plan around the work

Start with Avamar architecture and terminology. Then follow a practical sequence: monitor the environment, review services, manage policy resources and clients, and investigate events. This is a suggested learning order, not an official Dell exam procedure. After each stage, explain how it relates to the others. A failed backup, for example, may call for a review of policy resources, client state, and infrastructure health.

Dell lists training options including Avamar Concepts and Avamar Administration. Combine current Dell materials with hands-on experience where available, and check the latest exam page again before scheduling.

Use practice resources to expose weak spots

Whether you use Dell's official practice test or independent D-AV-OE-01 practice resources, map every missed question to one of the four current domains. Record why the answer is correct and what evidence you would seek in a real environment. Was the question about system health, Data Domain integration, policy resources, proxies, NDMP, or event analysis? Review that workflow before taking another set.

Independent practice questions are study aids, not official Dell exam questions or a guarantee of passing. Be particularly careful with materials still labeled D-AV-OE-23. Check their coverage against the four D-AV-OE-01 domains before relying on them.

Why the Avamar Operate credential matters

The D-AV-OE-01 objectives connect concepts, infrastructure maintenance, daily operations, and troubleshooting. For professionals responsible for Avamar environments, the blueprint is a way to check whether they can move from monitoring a problem to identifying the affected resources and taking the next administrative step. That reasoning matters more than recognizing an isolated menu name.
